Definitely worth a visit. The views are amazing and the cast iron steps are sturdy. Parking is close by and payment is at the door. No weird 24 hour tickets ahead of time like the NPS.
Always a wonderful experience! The staff is always super friendly and welcoming. They do a fantastic job of keeping up the park, the parkgrounds, and lighthouse neat, tidy, and safe for everyone. There is a wonderful little gift shop where you can find something for everyone.
Climbing the lighthouse cost me $13 and that money goes back into keeping up with the lighthouse and park to keep it as nice as it is. Not only is it nestled in some woods, once you climb to the top of the light, you get some really scenic and breathtaking views.
Weather cooperated nicely at the time of my most recent visit that I was able to launch my drone for a bird's eye view. You just cant launch it within the fence of the lighthouse as it is a private residence but you can from the parking lot or nearby park on the sound.
Even if you are unable to climb, the park offers a nice place to sit and relax, get some photos, and appreciate history.
The lighthouse opened for the year on the day I went, and thus admission was free. However, I was unable to make it any further than the 4th landing, though through no fault of the establishment's. Not recommended for the very out of shape.
