Homeschool Day
April 16 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Roanoke Island, NC – Spring is the right time to be at Island Farm! Join in for the Farm’s annual Homeschool Day, where families and students will have the opportunity to learn history together through a variety of hands-on activities that draw off of mid-19th century life on the Outer Banks.
Homeschool Day will take place on Wednesday, April 16 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Island Farm. Students will receive a $3 discount on the Farm’s entrance fee for the day. Admission to the site for all other visitors is $11, and those aged 0-3 years old may enter for free.
This year’s theme, “Many Hands Make Light Work” will focus on everyday work required on a circa 1847 farm on Roanoke Island. Special activities will include spring cleaning, candlemaking, hearth cooking, livestock chores, gardening, and live blacksmithing.
A living history site, Island Farm is a tangible glimpse into coastal history, and the realities of life on Roanoke Island in the mid-1800’s. For the 2025 season, Island Farm will be open until early December, Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., where programming and activities will vary throughout the season. The Farm will be open Tuesday – Saturday in April and May. The site is located at 1140 N US Highway 64, north of Manteo on Roanoke Island. To learn more, visit www.obcinc.org or call 252-473-6500
